The Deutscher Zukunftspreis, the German President's Award for Innovation in Science and Technology, is dedicated to the scientists and their innovations that have both economic potential and create jobs. The prize is awarded annually and endowed with € 250,000.
The call for nominations for next year has already gone out. The Deutscher Zukunftspreis is not an award that is applied for. In a multi-stage process, a project must first of all be proposed to the jury by institutions entitled to nominate candidates. These institutions of science and industry scout the market for promising research projects and check whether they meet the formal requirements. With their work they ensure the high quality of all submissions.
The jury during several meetings then goes on to decide which nominees will be shortlisted for the award and then ultimately selects the prizewinning team. It is a complex and time-consuming process: The call for nominations for the 2021 prize is hereby given.
Every research and development team is free to draw the attention of one of the institutions to their project. This should be done as soon as possible. Deadlines applicable to the individual institutions entitled to nominate projects can be viewed on the contacts.
