Minister Theresia Bauer, Chair of the Foundation Administration of the Carl-Zeiss-Foundation
„The link between science and industry that distinguishes the Deutscher Zukunftspreis (German Future Prize) is part of the DNA of the Carl-Zeiss-Foundation. The cooperation between entrepreneur Carl Zeiss and scientist Professor Dr Ernst Abbe, who later founded the Carl-Zeiss-Foundation, as well as glass researcher Otto Schott laid the foundation for the scientific microscope production and thus the success story of both operating enterprises of the Foundation Zeiss and SCHOTT.
It is therefore a real delight for us to support the Deutscher Zukunftspreis, the German Federal President´s Award for Innovation in Science and Technology.
The Carl-Zeiss-Foundation is committed to supporting the natural and engineering sciences in order to facilitate scientific breakthroughs in those fields. The funding provides the universities with the freedom necessary to work on ideas with boldness, risk appetite and tenacity. Ideas that can later become innovations. We see supporting cutting-edge research as an important building block for Germany's ability to innovate, because it always starts in the mind.“
